What is the Optimal Performance Training Model?

Integrated training is a concept that incorporates all forms of training in an integrated fashion as part of a progressive system. These forms of training include flexibility training, cardiorespiratory training, core training, balance training, reactive training and resistance training. This system was developed by the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and is termed Optimum Performance Training (OPT).

The OPT model was conceptualized as a training program for a society that has more structural imbalances and susceptibility to injury than ever before. It is a process of programming that systematically progresses any client to any goal. The OPT model is built upon a foundation of principles that progressively and systematically allow any client to achieve optimum levels of physiological, physical and performance adaptations including:

Physiological Benefits
· Improves Cardiorespiratory Efficiency
· Increases Metabolic Efficiency
· Increase Bone Density
Physical Benefits
· Decreases Body Fat
· Increases Lean Body Mass (muscle)

· Strength
· Power
· Endurance
